A playful and sometimes frightening mise en scène of the marketing strategy of a brand you can't help liking: HELLO™. Following short film, Logorama (H5 - François Alaux, Hervé De Crécy, Ludovic Houplain), awarded an Oscar® in 2010 and a César in 2011, which used sharp irony to question brand images, this exhibition continues to mine the same critical vein and unmasks the shadowy side of HELLO™.
From Warhol onwards, the consumer society has been a recurrent subject for art works and H5 are approaching it from the point of view of one of the system's players. By adopting a posture including all available communication tools, the collective aims to illuminate the mechanisms brands use so as to better free themselves from them. The exhibition, then, is a platform for a double-edged system embodied in a playful, happy aesthetic where childhood and the fantasy of purity, locus of utopia and desire, hold sway.
HELLO™ is ubiquitous: a marketing machine to enchant the kids and get adults asking questions.
HELLO™ takes place in the exhibition spaces at La Gaîté Lyrique, from the lobby to the Grande Salle, from the building's façade into the streets of Paris and online at www.hello-h5.com (available soon).
